About
A short narrative. Scroll through the timeline to trace the journey.
I'm Nicolas Walker — a builder, researcher, and technologist. I spend my time between Rio de Janeiro, New York, and Zurich, working at the intersection of design, technology, and human systems.
I'm drawn to hard problems: privacy infrastructure, autonomous agents, simulation design, and the question of how technology can serve people without exploiting them. My approach is rooted in first-principles thinking, rapid experimentation, and a healthy distrust of conventional wisdom.
Timeline
Current chapter
Building AI-powered productivity tools. Exploring multi-agent systems and personal knowledge infrastructure. Splitting time between Rio and New York.
CIWI & Privacy
Founded and built a privacy-first consumer product focused on cryptographic identity and data sovereignty. Filed patent for novel verification system.
Simulations & Speaking
Deep dive into agent-based economic simulations. Spoke at Web Summit on the future of digital identity. Started the Build Logs practice of documenting everything publicly.
Open Source & Experimentation
Released open-source data visualization toolkit. Explored generative art, procedural generation, and creative coding. Built and broke things rapidly.
Bridgewater & Principles
Immersed in radical transparency, meritocratic decision-making, and systems thinking. Lessons from this period continue to shape how I build and lead.
First Ventures
Built and launched an e-commerce platform for sustainable goods. First experience with the full stack: product, engineering, design, logistics, and customer acquisition.
Early Explorations
Started programming, fell in love with the craft. Early projects in web development, automation scripts, and the first taste of building something from nothing.
